So enjoyed hosting the Australian Independent booksellers’ night of nights for the centenary celebrations of BookPeople! We were treated to first tastes of books from Professor Clare Wright OAM, Tim Winton and Kasey Chambers - plus the 🍒 on the top… a rousing live performance from Kasey, AND signed & numbered editions of Tim’s new book ‘Juice’ well before its October release. Book People are the best people!(And book people who love food are the best-est of all 🤭)!

Inspiring and illuminating to bring The Future of Food to the grand hall of the National Gallery of Victoria as part of Melbourne Design Week 2024. We heard from solutions-focused start-ups, established players and community activators across the food system. Thank you to Ewan McEoin & Kadiesha Gary for spearheading this, and to our speakers and feeders: Paul Newnham John Said Skye Blackburn Sarah Separovich Tara Medina. Thanks also to the Restaurant Associates team for bringing the food to life, and to Jo Barrett for making 500 wild venison dim sum using Discovered Wildfoods - something I didn’t expect to eat again with the closure of Little Pickett. 🙏

// HOW TO SAY NO //Our ratings peak at 7:40am on 774 ABC Radio Melbourne #SaturdayBreakfast - somewhere between Ned Hall’s exquisite sports commentary and our Useful segment, which always aims to bring something (you guessed it!) useful to listeners. Today was all about learning to say NO, with Associate Professor Colleen P. Kirk sharing her research findings and offering a series of practical strategies - especially for people-pleasing extroverts, who we learn find it hardest to decline invitations!

Don't want to go to that party today? Here's how to politely decline. - ABC listen abc.net.au

I watched a fantastic webinar organised by Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)'s Audio department with guru Eric Nuzum, and gleaned so many insights. Top of mind, the notion of "making surprising choices". Eric also recommended an unusual podcast format: 'Everything is Alive' which is *surprising* to say the least. It's very worth a Friday afternoon listen, if you're up for a giggle (and to feel like you're in another dimension o_O):

It’ll come as no surprise that the primary clientele for etiquette coaches is the international business sector. Loved bringing The Cook’s Companion herself, Stephanie Alexander’s story to life with RN Blueprint for Living’s Jonathan Green last night for Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio National’s #BigWeekendofBooks. The 250-strong studio audience at Southbank were treated to a candid conversation and surprise ‘disembodied voices’ from Stephanie’s life - Annie Smithers Nat Paull and Paul Bangay OAM, which really brought a new dimension to the conversation. Looking forward to sharing the interview in full during the BWOB weekend on June 15-16!Big thanks to everyone involved in this RN x Local collaboration, inc.
