Bio: I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. I graduated from Siriraj Hospital and completed my Internal Medicine Residency training at Chiang Mai University. After my graduation, I worked as an internist and research assistant at the Cardiac Electrophysiology Research and Training Center at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. I have a passion for becoming a cardiologist.
Why did you choose UMKC? I chose UMKC because of the academic support within the program. UMKC not only provides academic and clinical encounters to improve my clinical skills, but also offers research opportunities for residents. Moreover, I have been to Kansas City twice and love the city. I always enjoy visiting galleries and having the famous KC BBQ. During these three years of residency training, I hope to try every famous KC BBQ restaurant.
What are your interests? During my free time, I enjoy swimming. Additionally, I love running and trekking. I hope there are interesting places for trekking in KC. I also enjoy cooking and love to make spicy Thai dishes!

Why did you choose UMKC? I went to UMKC for both undergraduate and medical school and loved the faculty and the training that we received. Between being a great academic program and having family in the area, it made UMKC an easy choice.

Bio: I was born and raised in eastern India, in the city of joy, Kolkata. I moved far south to Pune to attend medical school and graduated in 2017. On graduating, I was commissioned into the Indian Army and served as a Medical Officer in various commands across the subcontinent. I retired with decorations in 2022 and pursued my long-time dream of practicing medicine in the United States.
I am interested in both academia and providing specialized care. As an intern, I will keep an open mind and explore!

Why did you choose UMKC? If I had to choose one word, that would certainly be Program Leadership. I was fortunate to have friends who are in training or have graduated from this program and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The program provides a robust clinical experience in multiple settings, opportunity to pursue research, tailored support for individual career goals.
KC is a gem of the Midwest. The city shares my love for sports and I can’t get enough of the BBQ here!
What are your interests? Soccer is my ‘thing’. Although, its mostly on the couch with the console these days.
I am also into hiking, road-biking, and board games! Pickleball found me at KC and I am a fan already. I’m always excited to try new restaurants and cuisines or spice things up in the kitchen for friends and family. Also hoping to eventually graduate from Topgolf to a real golf course.

Bio: I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I have been all around Missouri for school before ending up in Kansas City for medical school at Kansas City University. I began my journey to become a physician with the goal of becoming an oncologist, but I recently have been considering pulmonary/critical care after a great rotation in the ICU during my fourth year.
Why did you choose UMKC? One of my main reasons for choosing UMKC for residency was due to the strong support system that I have in Kansas City. My wife did the 6 year program at UMKC, and she is currently completing her residency at UMKC as well. I rotated through University Health and St. Luke’s for my entire fourth year and met a lot of the staff and residents. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and the attendings enjoyed taking time to teach the students and the residents. Ultimately, UMKC felt like a program that could provide excellent learning opportunities in an environment that I could thrive in.

Bio: I was born in Kuwait, raised in Yemen, and later returned to Egypt, my home country, to start medical school at Cairo University. Growing up surrounded by these diverse cultures instilled a profound appreciation for diversity and a strong desire to engage with various cultural backgrounds. After graduating, I pursued this passion by moving to the USA, where I began my role as a research scholar in the Nephrology department at Northwestern University. I am committed to teaching, empowering medical students, and advocating for underserved communities.
Why did you choose UMKC? UMKC was on my mind from the very beginning. It didn’t take long for me to decide to rank it first. Why did you choose UMKC? I chose UMKC because I am passionate about working with our underserved patient population. UMKC’s residency program has many amazing educational opportunities with a wide variety of pathologies to learn from and treat. I have also loved living in Kansas City, especially following our sports teams!

Caroline Ramsey, M.D.

Bio: Caroline Ramsey is a Kansas City native, and is so excited to be staying here for residency. She grew up north of the river and attended St. Pius X High School, where she met her husband, Ben. During high school, her grandmother, Carolyn, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and came to live with Caroline’s family. Caroline would rush home from school every afternoon to share news from the day and watch the Royals on their path to the 2015 World Series. Helping to care for her grandmother in her last year of life solidified Caroline’s love for medicine.
In 2017, Caroline began school at the UMKC School of Medicine, where she was fortunate to have many wonderful mentors that ultimately furthered her interest in Internal Medicine. In April 2024 she and her husband Ben welcomed their son into their family. Caroline is honored to be a part of the UMKC Internal Medicine family, and can’t wait to see what the next 3 years bring!
Why did you choose UMKC? In my training at UMKC School of Medicine, I encountered many graduates of the program, as well as current residents. I was always in awe of their intelligence, empathy, and humility. These attributes are reflections of the education that UMKC provides their residents. My husband and I are also from Kansas City, and truly have a love for the town. We are midwesterners through and through, and so this combination of factors made UMKC the perfect fit for our family.
What are your interests? I’ve been singing in my church choir since I was a little girl! I love the peace and happiness that music can bring to people. I also love photography and scrapbooking! There is something so special about the nostalgia of old photographs.
Where do you live? North of the River; This area is Kansas City’s hidden secret! There is a great mixture of amenities of living in the city as well as a small-town feel.
