1 Deaths and funerals Stephen R. Glenn BICKNELL Stephen R. Glenn, 46, ,512 W. Second died at 12:15 a.m. today, Sept.

14, 1998, at his home. Born Jan. 7, 1952, in Chicago, he was the son of Jack H. and Phyllis G. (Hubartt) Glenn.

Glenn had been a manager with Van's Carburetor Electric of Indianapolis, and moved to Bicknell in 1989 when the firm acquired the former Ace Auto Electric in Vincennes and transferred Glenn to manage it. Glenn was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Vincennes and had been attending Vincennes University. Survivors include his wife, Martha (Kasnick) Glenn; his parents of Vincennes; two sons, Matthew and James Glenn at home; two sisters, Anne Wirt and Ruth Glenn, both of Fort Wayne; and two brothers, Philip Glenn of Goose Creek, S.C., and John Glenn of Indianapolis. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Vincennes, with his father, the Rev.

Jack H. Glenn, officiating. A graveside service will, then be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.

Catherine Patricia LeRoy BICKNELL Vincennes native Catherine Patricia LeRoy, 83, Leesburg, died at 12:34 p.m. Saturday, Sept.

12, 1998, at the LRMC Hospital in Leesburg. Born Aug. 18, 1915, in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Owen and LeNetta (Bottoms) Agar. A homemaker, she was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Leesburg. Her husband, Morris C.

LeRoy, whom she married Jan. 19, 1935, in Vincennes, died Dec. 21, 1986. A son and a daughter are also deceased. Survivors include a daughter, LeNetta Williams of Vincennes; a son, Maurice O.

LeRoy of Dwight, a sister, Mary Robb of Evansville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. John Moreland. There will be no visitation.

Julian, 18, 4015 Laukus Lane, died early Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, in St. Joseph as the result of a traffic accident. Born March 22, 1980, in San Diego, he was the son of James M. and Neva L.

(Scott) Julian. He had been a student at North Knox High School in until he went to live with his father in about a year ago, just before the start of his senior year. He subsequently graduated this spring from St. Joseph High School. He was attending Lake Michigan College and was working as a director at Celebration in Benton Harbor.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, James M. and Mary Julian of St. Joseph; his mother, Neva L. Julian of Harrisburg, Ill; paternal grandmother Lorena Sebren of -Oakland City, maternal grandparents and Dorothy Scott of Harrisburg; two brothers, Beau Julian of Fort Bliss, Texas, and Daniel Julian at 'home; a half-sister, Lyndsie Julian of Harrisburg; and a stepsister, Heather Julian at home. The funeral was at 2 p.m.

today at the Dey Florin Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Cities Young Life. Ralph Thompson Ralph Thompson, 38, Wheatland, died at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis as the result of an Aug. 113 traffic accident on Old Wheatland Road at County Road SE150S. Born Sept. 7, 1960, he was the son of Robert Wayne and Patricia Sue (Gains) Thompson.

He owned and operated Ralph's General Hauling and was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Lawrenceville, and of Evansville Local 561 of the Laborers International Union of North America. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Dee (Loudermilk) Thompson; his mother of Russellville, two brothers, Bobby Thompson Jr. of Vincennes and Jeff Allen Thompson of Russellville; and a grandson. His father is deceased. The funeral will be at 2 p.m.

VonBehren EVANSVILLE Former Vincennes and resident Dorothy E. VonBehren, 70, Evansville, about 1 a.m. today, Sept. 14, 1998, at the Inc. nursing home in Vincennes.

Arrangements are pending at the Alexander Home-East in Evansville. Warren Karns Warren Karns, 75, 28 E. Reel died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at his home.

Born Dec. 2, 1922, in Knox County, he was the son of Hayden and Ruby (Beeman) Karns. He had been a bookkeeper for E. Bierhaus Sons, worked at Universal Scientific, and was a volunteer at Tec*mseh-Harrison Elementary School and for the Knox County Association for Retarded Citizens. His wife, Ethel Karns, whom he married Nov.

9, 1957, died in 1997. A private graveside service was conducted today in Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Andrew Kinsey. Lawrence Eugene Ramsey PRINCETON Retired Princeton (Ind.) Community High School Principal Lawrence Eugene Ramsey, 59, Princeton, died at 3:35 p.m. Friday, Sept.

11, 1998, in Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton, Ky. Born Aug. 16, 1939, in Vincennes, he was the son of Bertrand and Erma Ramsey. Ramsey began teaching in 1961 in the North Gibson Unit 20 schools to host open LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. The Lawrenceville Unit 20 School District will have open houses this week.

An open house will be held from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Arlington, Brookside, Central and Lincoln schools. Former Bicknell resident killed School Corporation. He was athletic director and freshman basketball coach at the former Princeton High School briefly before being named vice principal there. He held that position after the consolidation into Princeton Community High School, then served as principal for about 20 years, retiring in 1995. He was a charter member of the Princeton Optimist Club and a former member of the Princeton Elks Lodge.

Following retirement, he shuttled between his homes in Princeton, Eddyville, and Sebring, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Gloria (Miller) Ramsey; his mother of Oaktown; a son, Michael Ramsey of Noblesville; a daughter, Kimberly Stansell of Lake Worth, three sisters, Roberta Dellinger of Bicknell, Beverly Rogers of Poplar Bluff, and Brenda Hoffman of Oaktown; and five granddaughters. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Ernie Rogers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Princeton Odd Fellows Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Ramsey Scholarship Fund of the North Gibson School Corporation. Pearl Poorman NOBLE, Ill. Former Noble resident Pearl Poorman, 94, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept.

13, 1998, at the Burgin Manor Nursing Home in Olney, where she resided. Born March 11, 1904, in Clay County, she was the the daughter of Robert and Cora Myrtle (Raley) Gaskins. She retired as owner and operator of the Dairy Bar in Noble. Her husband, Fred Poorman, whom she married June 28, 1923, died March 30, 1985. Survivors include two sons, Robert F.

"Fred" Poorman of Englewood, and James R. Poorman of Vincennes; a daughter, Frances Huntington of Carson City, 11 grandchildren and nine great -grandchildren. Ellis Hill, 74, Bruceville, died at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Born Dec. 8, 1923, in Knox County, he was the son of Lloyd and Josie (Carrico) Hill.

A lifelong resident of Knox County, he was a farmer. He was a member of the Bruceville United Methodist Church, the Bruceville Rod and Gun Club and the Vincennes Veterans of Foreign Wars. He attended Purdue University and served in the Army in Europe. On June 28, 1947, he married Thelma (Helderman) Hill. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael W. Hill of Bruceville and Stephen Hill of Bicknell; two sisters, Beulah Brothers of Bicknell and Phyllis Harrison of Monroe City; two granddaughters; one stepgranddaughter; and one stepgreat-grandson. A son is deceased. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home in Bruceville, with the Rev.

Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes following an extended illness. Born Feb. 7, 1947, in Robinson, she was the daughter of Herb and Violet (Pinkstaff) Decker. She married David J.

Bennett on Dec. 4, 1971, and he also survives. Other survivors include her father and her stepmother, Herb and Marty Decker of Palestine; a son, Shawn Keith Bennett of Bloomington, a daughter, Samantha Jo Bennett of Palestine; a brother, Gary Decker of Roanoke, Texas; and two stepbrothers, Steve Thompson of Socorro, N.M., and Brad Thompson of Marshall. A son is deceased. The funeral will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at the Daviess County Hospital in Washington. Born May 12, 1909, she was the daughter of William Maddison and Annie Olethia (Creek) Bowman. She attended Powell Valley Methodist Church in a Martin County. Her husband, Ottis "Bear" Moore, whom she married Jan.

4, 1927, is deceased, as are two sisters and seven brothers. A sister, Marie Williams of Loogootee, survives. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Carl Edward Walling OBLONG, Ill. Former Lawrenceville and Oblong resident Carl Edward Walling, 84, Victoria, Texas, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept.

12, 1998, at the Victoria Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 31, 1913, in Lawrenceville, he was the son of John Grover and Nellie (Randolph) Walling. He was a petroleum engineer with Marathon and retired from Marathon Petroleum Pipeline in 1972. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Victoria, Texas.

Walling and his surviving wife, H. Kathryn (Kirk) Walling, lived in Carmi from 1960 to 1986. He was a member of the Carmi Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. and Lawrenceville High School will have its open house from 6:30 to 8' p.m. Former Bicknell resident Marcus D. Julian, 18, St. Joseph, died after a one-car accident Thursday in St. Joseph.

According to a Berrien County (Mich.) Sheriff's Department report, the accident occurred about 2:55 a.m. A department spokeswoman said she thought Julian had been driving home from work. Julian was driving south on Niles Road, the report said. The car was rounding a curve and went off the right side of the road. It traveled along a ditch line for about 300 feet, re-entered the road sliding sideways, then left the road on the left and slammed broadside into the tree, hitting a driver's door.

According to North Knox School Corporation officials, Julian had spent his school career in the North Knox school system, until he moved to Michigan a year ago at the start of his senior year at North Knox High School. Several hurt in numerous fights WASHINGTON A number of fights occurred over the weekend in Daviess County, with several injuries resulting. Washington Police were called to a fight at the Antique Bar, 100 E. Main at 2:01 a.m. Saturday, as a man was injured while trying to exit the bar.

Don Pride, 63, Washington, was leaving the bar when he was accidentally bumped by people fighting and was knocked down, striking his head on a car as he fell. He was taken to Daviess County Hospital and then taken by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was listed in fair condition this morning in the intensive care unit. Injured in the fight itself were Kevin Neace, 23, and Jeff Raymann, 39, addresses unknown. Neace was treated and released from Daviess County Hospital for injuries received when he was hit over the head with a bottle.

Raymann was admitted for observation and was released on Sunday. An Odon resident, Shawn West, 22, was also injured in a fight early Saturday morning. No details of the incident were available at press time. West was taken to Daviess County Hospital and was then taken by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was listed in good condition in a medical unit this morning. An Elnora juvenile was also involved in a fight, whose details are not available.

He was treated and released from Daviess County Hospital early Saturday morning. A fight between groups of juveniles and young adults was reported to city police Friday at 9:58 p.m. in the Tokheim Corp. parking lot, 227 Front St. Witnesses reported baseball bats and bricks were being used.

The participants were gone when police arrived, but the violence spilled over to Sunday. At 4:09 p.m. Sunday, city police received a call from Josh Hambrig, 613 N. Meridian reporting 10 to 15 subjects outside the house trying to start a fight. Police talked to some of the people involved and found this was a continuation of the Tokheim incident.

At 2:54 a.m. Sunday, city police were called to Neighbor's Bar on East Main Street, with reports of a fight outside the bar. Captain Mike Healy arrived to find 40 to 45 people out in the street. With the assistance of a sheriff's deputy he dispersed the crowd. Arrested was Jason Kent Hardy, 25, 1425 Brett Cable Road.

He was charged with battery and was released on $2,000 bond. Other fights in both the city and county remain under investigation by local law enforcement officials. Friday, Chester W. Latham, 39, 900 S. Meridian was driving west on County Road 100N when his car went off the north side of the road at the start of a curve.
